Job Description


Join our dynamic team and take your career to the next level! As the Dental Faculty Practice Hygienist at the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Dentistry. You will play a key role in achieving our mission of providing excellent patient care and exceptional patient experience.

The UMKC Faculty Practice Dental Hygienist is responsible for providing professional dental hygiene services, coordinating patient care, and ensuring efficient communication within the practice.

Key Responsibilities:

*Perform routine dental procedures such as scaling, polishing, and root planning with both hand and ultrasonic instruments, preparing injections using aseptic techniques, and adhering to ADHA standards for every patient.

*Clean and process reusable dental equipment, follows procedures for cleaning and disinfection of surfaces,

*Review and update patient health histories, conduct oral health assessments and oral cancer screenings, and document each patient visit in Dentrix.

*Teach patients proper oral hygiene practices.

*Inventory and equipment management is also essential, including restocking dental supplies, maintaining dental instruments, and ensuring proper functioning of dental equipment.

Additionally, the Dental Hygienist assists the dentist in managing dental and medical emergencies, maintains CPR certification, and ensures the availability of emergency drugs and oxygen supplies. Professional development is required through attending continuing education courses to maintain a current dental hygiene license.


Minimum Qualifications


Associate's degree in related/relevant area or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary, as well as RDH Certified.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Commitment to providing an excellent patient experience.
  • Proficiency in Dentrix or similar dental software.
  • Attention to detail, strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
  • Previous experience in a dental office setting.

Anticipated Hiring Range


$36.00 - $43.00 per hour, commensurate with experience, education, and internal equity.
