Job summary

Prisma Health Dentistry is seeking a Dental Hygienist to perform routine prophylaxis, educate patients, and support dental hygiene students under supervision.

Responsibilities include removing deposits, applying fluoride, exposing radiographs, providing oral hygiene guidance, and maintaining patient records. Associate degree in Dental Hygiene and SC registration are required; one year of preferred experience. This is an on-site day shift at Dentistry 10 Med Park Suite A.

Qualifications

• Education - Associate degree in Dental Hygiene.
• Experience - No experience required. One (1) year of experience preferred.

• Performs oral prophylaxis; removes deposits and stains; polishes teeth.
• Applies topical fluoride to teeth.
• Exposes and develops radiographs.
• Gives oral hygiene instruction and counseling.
• Provides nutrition and dietary counseling.
• Makes and confirms appointments.
• Reviews medical and dental health history; takes and records blood pressure.
• Charts dental disease.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Performs routine dental prophylaxis, participates in patient education, trains dental hygiene students with minimal supervision. May require access to storage areas where medications are kept and carry out procedure that require the use of medications.

Essential Functions

• Performs oral prophylaxis; remove hard and soft deposits and stains from the surfaces of teeth; polish all surfaces of teeth.

• Applies topical fluoride to the teeth.
• Exposes and develops radiographs.
• Gives oral hygiene instruction and counseling.
• Provides nutrition and dietary counseling.
• Makes and confirms appointments.

• Reviews medical and dental health history. Takes and records blood pressure.

• Charts dental disease.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

• This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education - Associate degree in Dental Hygiene
• Experience - No experience required. One (1) year of experience preferred.
