Qualifications

• State licensure to practice Dental Hygiene and meet all state requirements.
• At least 2 years of post-secondary education from an accredited dental hygiene program.
• Experience with Dental Assisting specific to Periodontics.
• Experience providing prophylaxis and taking radiographs.
• Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
• Strong computer skills; familiarity with dental software; Open Dental is a plus.
• Excellent patient care and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Provide hygiene treatment to patients.
• Review daily schedule with the patient care coordinator for hygiene patients.
• Review patient health and dental history forms and update as necessary.
• Perform scaling, root planing, and selective polishing as appropriate.
• Polish restorations.
• Take radiographs as prescribed by the dentist.
• Maintain patient charts and document treatments.
• Maintain a clean, sterilized treatment room per OSHA regulations.
• Apply cavity-preventive agents such as fluorides and sealants.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene techniques and nutrition.
• Counsel patients on oral health and nutrition.
