We are currently hiring for a Dental Hygienist in Milwaukee, WI at Progressive Community Health Centers!

Who are we?

Founded in 1999, Progressive Community Health Centers is an independent non-profit organization operating four clinic locations in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. We support our community's health and quality of life by providing culturally competent services to over 16,000 patients annually, primarily low-income individuals. No one is turned away based on insurance status or ability to pay. Our services include family medicine, internal medicine, women's health, urgent care, dental, radiology, and behavioral health, along with supportive services like case management, health education, and benefits enrollment.

National Health Service Corps Loan Repayment Program

In exchange for loan repayment, service at least two years at an NHSC-approved site in a Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA) is required.

What will you do?

Participate in dental treatment by performing hygiene tasks, examining teeth, and educating patients on oral hygiene. Take and develop radiographs, and assist the Dentist with patient care per Wisconsin regulations.

Essential Functions
  1. Work with dentists to carry out treatments like scaling and polishing to prevent periodontal disease.
  2. Perform dental prophylaxis, apply topical fluorides, examine teeth, and assist the dentist as needed.
  3. Make and evaluate radiographs.
  4. Administer minor treatments under supervision.
  5. Chart patient needs, health history, and social history.
  6. Review treatment plans with patients and manage hygiene regimens.
  7. Record vital signs before procedures.
  8. Develop prevention programs.
  9. Assist in sterilization and maintenance duties.
  10. Attend training, meetings, and continuing education.

  • Manage patient flow effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Follow office policies and procedures.
  • Relate well to people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Show empathy and treat patients with dignity and respect.
  • Work flexible hours as needed.
  • Know about anesthetic procedures for all ages.
  • Understand universal precautions and bloodborne pathogens.
  • Document patient information clearly and accurately.
Education, Training, and Experience

Graduate from an accredited Dental Hygiene program, licensed in Wisconsin. Prior experience, especially in a Federally Qualified Health Center, is preferred.
