Job summary

SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium is seeking a dedicated Dental Hygienist to provide age-appropriate preventive and curative periodontal care for SEARHC patients across all ages. The role includes education on oral hygiene, polishing, fluoride application, radiographs as needed, and coordination of prevention activities.

Active Alaska dental hygiene license is required with BLS within 45 days of hire and ongoing competency reviews.

Qualifications

• Active Alaska dental hygiene license or valid license from another U.S. state.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• BLS certification within 45 days of start.
• Clinical competency required within 3 months and every 3 years.
• High Risk Competency within 3 months and yearly.
• Infection control and standard precautions knowledge.
• Proficient in infection control and periodontal therapies.
• Strong clinical and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide age-specific education on prevention and oral hygiene.
• Examine oral tissues and perform periodontal therapy.
• Polish teeth and apply topical fluoride as indicated.
• Measure periodontal pockets and record vitals.
• Manage patient schedule and dental prevention activities.
• Coordinate health fairs and Head Start clinics.
• Maintain sterilization and supplies; ensure instrument readiness.
• Perform radiographs as needed and document findings.

Pay Range:Provide optimum age specific prevention and curative periodontal and dental care for SEARHC patients by performing hygiene services on infants, children, adolescents, adults and geriatric patients.SEARHC is a non-profit health consortium which serves the health interests of the residents of Southeast Alaska. We offer generous benefits, including retirement, paid time off, paid parental leave, health insurance, dental, and vision benefits, life insurance and long and short-term disability, and more.Key Essential Functions and Accountabilities of the JobProvides age-specific patient education in the prevention and control of oral disease stressing the importance of oral hygiene, home care and nutrition.Examination of oral tissues, periodontal therapy, coronal polishing of teeth, and apply topical fluoride; measures and marks periodontal pockets; performs x-rays, records pulse, blood pressure and temperature.Manages patient schedule.Coordinates and conducts dental prevention activities, including health fairs, sealant clinics, and Head Start clinics.Maintains hygienist supplies and instruments, including sterilization of instruments.Other duties as assigned.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis position does not require supervisory responsibilities.Education, Certifications, and Licenses Required:Active Dental Hygiene License in the State of Alaska or another U.S. State.
