We are seeking Dental Hygienists to join our team!

Rocking Horse Community Health Center (RHCHC) is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that provides healthcare services to the Clark and Madison County communities.

The organization is looking for part- or full-time Dental Hygienists to join our state-of-the-art Dental Office. The Dental Hygienist is responsible for following all OSHA standards, applying preventive treatments, and educating patients on oral hygiene. May assist the Dentists with more complex procedures as required. You will enjoy the benefit of a four (4) day work week, and you will work alongside a great Dental team at the Rocking Horse!

This opportunity has a generous compensation package. In a full-time position, you will be offered Medical, Dental & Vision benefits, Company paid life, STD & LTD insurance, a four (4) day work week and the potential to earn and accrue up to 4 weeks of PTO per year along with 10 paid holidays. As an FQHC facility you would also be eligible to apply for the National Health Service Corps through Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) loan repayment program for Dental Hygienists.

RHCHC is located within walking distance of downtown Springfield OH, which offers a wonderful variety of locally owned & operated eateries, bakeries & coffee shops. Springfield is centrally located between Dayton & Columbus, which offers a high quality of life, and low cost of living in Southwestern Ohio. Position Info:

Position Title: Dental Hygienist

Primary Service Center: Springfield, Ohio (Main Campus - South Limestone Location).

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt – Hourly position.

Work Hours: Part or full-time position

Education Requirements:

Graduate of an accredited hygiene program. Previous dental hygiene experience desired but not required.

Possess a valid Ohio license to practice dental hygiene.

Ability to work in a team environment and maintain good working relationships with co-workers and patients.

The ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment is required.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

  • Graduate of an accredited hygiene program.
  • Possess a valid Ohio license to practice dental hygiene.
  • Previous dental hygiene experience desired but not required.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and staff. Also possesses an ability to motivate patients.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain charts, records, logs, and reports.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills required.

Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, customers and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variable sin standardized situations.

Computer skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

Other Skills and Abilities: Other Skills and Abilities: The duties of this position are performed within the mission, vision, and values as defined by the Board of Directors. Must demonstrate an understanding of the role of Federally Qualified Health Centers as a safety net for all persons without regard for their ability to pay for services; appreciate patient-centered care in a medical home; and be committed to quality, comprehensive services through a team approach. Excellent interpersonal communication, organization, and managerial skills are also necessary.

Privacy and Confidentiality: Staff is required to understand the privacy policies and procedures. Patient Health Information (PHI) is confidential, only the minimal amount of PHI necessary to accomplish the internal purpose is to be shared or released by staff.

Physical Demands:

  • Moves in and out of exam rooms, front office, exam rooms, hallways and waiting room. Spends a good portion of the day on feet.
  • Some bending and stooping required.
  • Requires lifting up to 50 pounds. Over 50 pounds requires assistance.
  • Requires manual dexterity to maneuver for operating office equipment.
  • Visual activity required to respond and react to client observations and to physical changes while assisting with clinic tasks.
  • Eye and hand coordination and finger dexterity needed for entering data and reviewing software.
  • Must be able to read and generate written communication and documentation.

Ability to communicate effectively with staff, patients, providers, peers, supervisor or other collaborative community agencies.
