Neighborhood Outreach Access to Health (NOAH) is seeking a Dental Hygienist to provide direct patient evaluation and oral hygiene services at the Cholla Health Center in Scottsdale, AZ. The role includes radiographs, fluoride/sealants application, and patient education to promote oral health in the community.

The successful candidate will have an Associate degree in Dental Hygiene, current AZ licensure, and CPR certification, with 5+ years of licensed hygienist experience; Spanish language

Qualifications

• Must have Associate degree in Dental Hygiene and current AZ licensure.
• CPR certification and eligibility for license maintenance.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a licensed dental hygienist.
• Spanish language ability is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient evaluations and dental hygiene services.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene and preventive care.
• Take radiographs as needed and administer fluoride/sealants.
• Maintain dental equipment and sterilization procedures.
• Document patient histories and chart findings for dentists.

Job Summary

The Dental Hygienist provides direct patient evaluation and oral hygiene services. The position also performs but not limited to the following; educates patients on oral hygiene, takes radiographs, and applies fluoride and sealants.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Cleans oral deposits, accretions, and stains from teeth and beneath margins of gums using various dental instruments/equipment.
• Examines gums using probes to locate periodontal recessed gums and signs of gum disease.
• Applies fluorides or other preventative agents to arrest dental decay.
• Takes radiographs.
• Records and reviews patient medical histories. Charts conditions of decay and disease for diagnosis and treatment by dentist.
• Develops dental hygiene treatment plans.
• Maintains dental equipment and sharpens and sterilizes dental instruments.
• Provides clinical services and oral health education to improve and maintain the oral health of patients or the general public.
• Answers and returns patient phone calls.
• Abides by all PPE standards for clinical staff.
• Attends, participates, and/or assists in meetings, trainings, community outreach activities, continuing education opportunities, and other activities as required.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

• Knowledge of general principles of dentistry and advanced knowledge of dental hygiene.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact with individuals of various social, cultural, and educational backgrounds.
• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to exercise confidentiality, discretion, and good judgment.
• Ability to speak English and Spanish preferred.

Education and Experience

Required

• Associate degree in Dental Hygiene.
• Current Arizona Dental Hygiene Licensure.
• Current CPR certification.
• 5+ years of experience as a Licensed Dental Hygienist.

Preferred

• Bachelor’s degree.
• 1+ years of pediatric dentistry experience.

Other Requirements

• New Hires are required to pass pre-employment background check and drug testing (effective 11/1/2022).
• Current Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card or must pass fingerprint clearance within 7 days following hire.
