Job Description

Mountlake Family Dentistry, a community-centered dental practice known for its commitment to patient care and comfort, is excited to announce a job opening for a dedicated Dental Hygienist. This part-time position offers a unique opportunity for a skilled individual to join our professional team in enhancing oral health and promoting dental education among our patients. Please note that this is not a remote job and requires presence at our facility located in Mountlake.

As a Dental Hygienist with us, you will be integral in providing preventive and therapeutic services that are essential for controlling oral diseases and promoting optimal oral health. This position requires a proactive approach, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for healthcare excellence. Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform oral health assessments including dental charting, caries risk assessment, periodontal health evaluation, and oral cancer screening.
  • Remove plaque and calculus from all surfaces of the teeth using both hand instruments and ultrasonic devices.
  • Apply preventive materials to the teeth such as fluorides and sealants.
  • Take dental digital radiographs (x-rays) and intraoral photographs as per the dentist’s orders.
  • Provide instructions on proper oral hygiene strategies tailored to the patient’s needs such as brushing, flossing, and nutritional counseling.
  • Maintain patient records by documenting dental histories, treatment plans, and procedures using appropriate dental software.
  • Assess the need for and potentially deliver local anesthesia during dental procedures.
  • Assist in the management of medical and dental emergencies by being knowledgeable of the clinic’s protocols and guidelines.
  • Participate in continuous education, meetings, and training sessions to improve skills and to stay up-to-date with the latest practices in dental hygiene and technology.
  • Engage with patients and ensure a comfortable, informed, and secure treatment experience.
  • Adhere to all state dental practice requirements and OSHA guidelines on sterilization and cleanliness to maintain safe operations.
  • Collaborate closely with dentists and other staff to facilitate comprehensive patient care.
Requirements
  • Associate’s Degree in Dental Hygiene or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Valid state Dental Hygienist license.
  • Minimum of one year of experience as a Dental Hygienist preferred but not mandatory for exceptional candidates.
  • Proficient in using digital dental records and radiograph systems.
  • Strong understanding of dental procedures, diagnostics, and patient management.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Capability to perform tasks with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy.
  • Commitment to learning and adapting to new techniques and tools relevant to dental hygiene.
  • Excellent teamwork skills with an enthusiastic and positive attitude towards working collaboratively.
