Job summary

A R PERIODONTICS PC in Livingston, NJ is seeking a qualified Registered Dental Hygienist to join our team. You will provide comprehensive hygiene care, screen patients, perform periodontal maintenance, scaling and root planing, and assist the dentist during exams and procedures.

The ideal candidate will be state licensed as an RDH, have 1–2 years of experience (periodontal practice preferred), and demonstrate excellent communication, HIPAA compliance, and a patient-centric approach.

Qualifications

• State licensed as a Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH).
• Associate’s Degree in Dental Hygiene or higher; CODA-accredited.
• 1–2 years of dental hygiene experience, periodontal preferred.
• Strong knowledge of HIPAA and safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Welcome patients into the treatment area and make them comfortable.
• Discuss the dental care plan with patients and answer questions.
• Prep sterilized equipment for exams and procedures.
• Take vital signs and record medical histories.
• Perform preliminary exams and collect oral histories.
• Evaluate patients for signs of gum disease, cavities, and infection.
• Remove plaque and calculus, apply fluoride treatments.
• Teach good oral hygiene techniques.
• Take radiographic and intra-oral images.
• Assist dentist during procedures and exams.
• Adhere to health and safety regulations and office policies.
• Schedule next appointments and manage recall system.

• Make patient's next appointments and work the recall system to fill gaps in schedule

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree from a school certified by the Commission on Dental Accreditation, Bachelor’s or Master’s degree preferred
• Current Dental Hygienist licensure; Local Anesthesia Certificate is a bonus
• Current CPR certificate
• At least 1-2 years of experience in dental hygiene (experience in a periodontal practice preferred)
• Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and all dentistry safety guidelines
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
