Dental Hygienist Position Summary

A Dental Hygienist at Riccobene Associates Family Dentistry collaborates with our dentists to meet the oral health needs of our patients. Responsibilities include promoting dental health through prophylaxis, oral cancer screenings, periodontal maintenance, charting, assisting with various responsibilities in the dental office, and performing duties in compliance with our highest standards of care.

Key Competencies

• Assess dental condition and needs of patients using screening procedures, including medical history review, dental and perio charting
• Deliver direct patient care using established procedures
• Take patient vital signs
• Perform routine treatments such as cleaning and polishing
• Take radiographs for diagnosis
• Apply sealants and fluorides
• Maintain electronic records
• Document dental history and chief complaints
• Report pertinent observations
• Educate patients on preventing tooth decay and gum disease
• Sterilize instruments
• Complete treatment plans as prescribed
• Review and explain treatment plans and fees to patients
• Communicate patient concerns to the dentist
• Serve as primary treatment coordinator
• Perform ancillary duties as needed

Requirements

• Reliable and punctual; full-time position
• Completed dental hygiene certificate or Associate's degree in Dental Hygiene; current Hygienist license for North Carolina; new grads welcome
• Ability to exercise independent judgment and teamwork
