Part time: 8a-4:30p
Under the general supervision of the Dentist, the Dental Hygienist will be responsible for performing licensed procedures in providing oral prophylaxis for dental patients, primarily geriatric patients at the Dental Center. Duties include making applicable radiographs, assisting in patient examinations, applying topical fluorides, and patient education in preventive dentistry. Operates radiographic and dental equipment to provide x-rays and clean teeth. Maintains equipment in working condition and notifies the dentist of malfunctions or service needs. Examines and assists with patient examinations. Educates patients on dental and oral hygiene and preventive dentistry. Applies topical fluorides and/or local anesthetics. Makes radiographs as directed. Cleans teeth with appropriate tools and materials. Assists the dentist and other staff as appropriate.
