Job summary

Southwestern Illinois College is seeking a coordinator/instructor for its Dental Hygiene program. The role combines program administration with classroom teaching in both traditional and online modes, plus student assessment and faculty qualification oversight.

The successful candidate will contribute to program accreditation efforts, work with faculty to enhance instructional effectiveness, and ensure high standards across courses. Prior teaching and accreditation experience are valued.

Qualifications

• Must be licensed Dentist or licensed Dental Hygienist who has passed the NBDHE and eligible to practice in Illinois.
• Graduated from a CODA-accredited training program.
• Possesses or will obtain within one year at least a Master’s degree.
• Three years of experience as a Dentist or Dental Hygienist in a dental practice capacity.
• One year of teaching experience preferred.
• Strong communication, organization, interpersonal, and advising skills.
• Background in administrative activities including staffing, long-range planning, quality assessment/performance improvement, and evaluation of staff, preferred.
• Experience in accreditation activities, preferred.
• Competency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Blackboard, etc., preferred.
• Must meet minimum health requirements and clearances as required by college/clinical facilities.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee the organization, administration, and ongoing development of the Dental Hygiene program.
• Instruct Dental Hygiene courses in traditional and computerized environments.
• Assess student performance and ensure faculty qualifications.
• Collaborate with Dental Hygiene faculty to evaluate instructional effectiveness and program outcomes.
