Primary Purpose and Essential Functions:

The Dental Hygiene Program at University of the Pacific, Arthur A.Dugoni School of Dentistry, invites applicants to apply for apart-time instructor, up to 2 days per week, position in SanFrancisco and Sacramento.

Instructors are responsible for providing content in preclinicalskills and supervision and instruction for patient care in theclinic setting.

Preferred Qualifications

GENERAL: Faculty should have sufficient motor function to executemovements essential to providing oral health care to patients.SPECIFIC: Must possess the motor skills to perform palpation,percussion, screening tests, other diagnostic maneuvers, scaling,root debridement, polishing and sealantplacement in a timelymanner. Such actions require coordination of gross and fine motormovements, equilibrium and functional uses of the senses of touchand vision.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to perform basic life support including CPR, positionand reposition patients with disabilities and maintain sitting andstanding positions for a prolonged period. Must be able to operatedental unit controls, use slow speed hand pieces for procedures andused hand instruments effectively.

Relocation and Remote Requirements

For in-person roles: This is an in-person role, and the successful candidate must be willing to relocate within California, preferably within 25 miles of the (City) Pacific campus.

For online roles: While this is an online position, Pacific's three campuses are within California and its faculty and staff are mostly California residents. For administrative purposes, California residents are preferred. Out ofstate hires must be approved either by the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs (for academic hires) or by the Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President for Financeand Operations.
