The Department of Preventive and Restorative is responsible forproviding the Preventive and Restorative preclinical and clinicalcontent within the dental school pre-doctoral and internationaldental studies curricula including Preventive and MinimallyInvasive Dentistry, Operative Dentistry, Fixed and RemovableProsthodontics, Implant Dentistry and Digital Dentistry, using thelatest and innovative techniques, modern concepts, andtechnology.
Position is full-time, teacher-clinician non-tenure track;4 days per week, 52 weeks per year.
Faculty at Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry, University of thePacific, engage in teaching in various formats, including didactic,Simulation and clinical, clinical activities, scholarship,research, and service. GENERAL: Faculty should have sufficient motor function to executemovements essential to providing oral health care topatients.
SPECIFIC: Must possess the motor skills to perform palpation,percussion, auscultation and other diagnostic maneuvers, basiclaboratory tests, dental preparations, and diagnostic procedures ina timely manner. Such actions require coordination of gross andfine muscular movements, equilibrium, and functional uses of thesenses of touch and vision.
SPECIFIC: Must be able to perform basic life support including CPR,transfer, and position patients with disabilities, physicallyrestrain adults and children who lack motor control, and positionand reposition himself or herself around the patient and chair insitting and standing positions for prolonged periods of time. Astudent must promote and support the ability of coworkers toperform prompt care.
Must be able to operate controls, use high-speed or low- speeddental handpieces for tooth preparation procedures, and use handinstrumentation including scalpels for surgical procedures. Allthese skills must be performed within reasonable time frames.

This is an in-person role,and the successful candidate must be willing to relocate withinCalifornia, preferably within 25 miles of the (City) Pacificcampus.
While this is an onlineposition, Pacific's three campuses are within California and itsfaculty and staff are mostly California residents. Foradministrative purposes, California residents are preferred. Out ofstate hires must be approved either by the Provost and ExecutiveVice President for Academic Affairs (for academic hires) or by theChief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President for Financeand Operations.
