Job Summary
The Dental Billing Specialist is responsible for accurate and timely filing of all dental insurance claims, follow-up to outstanding claims and denials. This position will be responsible for monitoring trends with outstanding claims, denials and claim processing issues and reporting them timely to the Revenue Cycle Manager.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 1-2 years’ experience in Dental Billing required
- CDT and ICD10 coding experience required
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, excel and outlook
- Ability to work independently and/or with team members
- Must have a secure area in home that is away from family/friends that restricts access to HIPAA related items
Essential Functions
- Responsible for daily claims processing of dental claims
- Responsible for timely follow up of claim errors, 277 rejections and completion of correspondence needed for dental claim payments
- Serve as the initial point of contact for dental customer service inquiries, calls and issues
- Follow up on outstanding AR, to ensure AR for dental is reviewed, worked or appealed within the payer guidelines
- Maintain an outstanding AR that does not exceed 90 days or past payer timely filing guidelines
- Updating patient insurance and preparing claim for submission
- Maintains strict confidentiality
- Reviews Dental credits, resolving or recommends refunds to insurance carriers
- Assist in insurance payment posting as needed
- Assists Customer Service Representative with patient balances and collections
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently sitting at a desk for office work.
- Occasional driving of automobiles for outside meetings or trainings.
- Continuous use of corrected vision, depth perception, wide field of vision, and color. Also, the job will demand continuous use of auditory senses.
- Duties require attention to detail, alertness, problem-solving, tolerance to stress, and exercising sound judgement.
- This employee may frequently lift and/or move items over 30 pounds.
- Must be able to lift, carry and handle equipment, supplies, and other work site materials according to position requirements.
