Job summary

Brown University Health seeks a dental coder/biller to accurately assign CDT codes for patient encounters and ensure compliant billing within the Dentrix system. You will review records, reference coding manuals, and liaise with dental staff to obtain missing information.

Two years of related coding/billing experience and proficiency with Dentrix are required, along with strong customer service and communication skills for interacting with patients and external providers.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Training in CDT coding, anatomy, physiology, and dental terminology.
• Experience with Dental software, preferably Dentrix.
• Knowledge of PC skills using Windows and dental billing routines.
• Courteous telephone technique and good customer service skills.
• Interpersonal skills to interact with patients and outside agencies with cultural sensitivity.

Responsibilities

• Reviews dental record documents and patient encounter forms to identify and assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes.
• References coding manuals to ensure accurate assignment of billing codes.
• Enters coding/billing information into the Dentrix system; creates paper invoices as needed.
• Reconciles charges and reviews revenue reports to ensure accuracy against ledgers.
• Resolves billing issues with patients and Patient Financial Services.
