Job summary

Todays Dental @ Cayce is seeking a dental assistant to support dentists during restorative, surgical, and emergency days, preparing operatories, taking radiographs, impressions, and keeping patients informed about what is happening and why.

You will follow infection control standards, maintain sterilization logs, and work in a fast-paced environment. CPR/BLS certification and SC radiography credentials are preferred. Recent graduates are welcome to interview as part of a strong team.

Qualifications

• Dental assisting credential and SC radiography certification required.
• Current CPR/BLS certification.
• Ability to maintain infection control and operate equipment safely.

Responsibilities

• Set up and break down operatories and maintain sterile instruments.
• Assist chairside through restorative, surgical, and emergency procedures.
• Take digital radiographs, intraoral photos, and impressions.
• Pour models, fabricate temporaries, and perform expanded functions per credentials.
• Provide post-operative instructions and answer patient questions.
• Maintain infection control and OSHA/CDC compliant logs.

Job description

A good assistant makes the dentist faster and the patient calmer at the same time.

You will work chairside through restorative, surgical, and emergency days - setting up, taking radiographs and impressions, anticipating the next instrument before it is asked for, and keeping the person in the chair informed about what is happening and why.

We keep the operatories properly equipped and replace what slows you down, because an assistant fighting the equipment cannot look after the patient.

What you'll do

• Set up and break down operatories, sterilize instruments, and have the tray ready before the doctor sits down.
• Assist chairside through restorative, surgical, and emergency procedures using four-handed technique.
• Take digital radiographs, intraoral photos, and impressions or digital scans as directed.
• Pour models, fabricate temporaries, and perform expanded functions permitted by your credentials.
• Give post-operative instructions in plain language and answer the questions patients are too polite to ask the doctor.
• Maintain infection control, sterilization logs, and operatory stock to OSHA and CDC standards.

What we're looking for

• Dental assisting credential and radiography certification as required by South Carolina.
• Current CPR/BLS certification.
• Steady hands, a strong stomach, and genuine patience with anxious patients.
• Able to keep pace through a full day without cutting a corner on sterilization.
• Chairside experience preferred; we will happily consider a recent graduate who interviews well.
