Job summary

Dentist in Edgewater is seeking a dedicated dental assistant to support chairside procedures and ensure smooth patient flow. You will set up operatories, assist through restorative, surgical, and emergency days, take radiographs and impressions, and maintain infection control to OSHA and CDC standards.

The role requires Maryland-certified dental assisting and radiography credentials, CPR/BLS, and the ability to work a full day with attention to sterilization.

Qualifications

• Dental assistant credential and radiography certification as required by Maryland.
• Current CPR/BLS certification.
• Steady hands, a strong stomach, and genuine patience with anxious patients.
• Able to keep pace through a full day without cutting a corner on sterilization.
• Chairside experience preferred; recent graduates who interview well considered.

Responsibilities

• Set up and break down operatories, sterilize instruments, and have the tray ready before the doctor sits down.
• Assist chairside through restorative, surgical, and emergency procedures using four-handed technique.
• Take digital radiographs, intraoral photos, and impressions or digital scans as directed.
• Pour models, fabricate temporaries, and perform expanded functions permitted by credentials.
• Give post-operative instructions in plain language and answer patient questions.
• Maintain infection control, sterilization logs, and operatory stock to OSHA and CDC standards.

Job description

A good assistant makes the dentist faster and the patient calmer at the same time.

You will work chairside through restorative, surgical, and emergency days - setting up, taking radiographs and impressions, anticipating the next instrument before it is asked for, and keeping the person in the chair informed about what is happening and why.

We keep the operatories properly equipped and replace what slows you down, because an assistant fighting the equipment cannot look after the patient.
