Job summary

Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic is hiring a Dental Assistant Trainee in Astoria, OR, offering a paid training program and opportunities for career advancement. The role includes bilingual pay, health insurance, and retirement benefits.

As you train, you will learn to perform charting, maintain records, assist with procedures, and support infection control. This entry-level position requires a GED and BLS; EFDA is pursued within 18 months.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
BLS certification within 60 days of hire.
Dental Radiology Certification within 90 days of hire.
Infection Control Exam (ICE) within 90 days of hire.
EFDA certification within 18 months of hire.

Responsibilities

Set up and record periodontal charting per Provider's instructions.
Maintain patient dental records, updating patient medical history and vital signs as needed.
Prepare and set up instruments and equipment necessary for the patient treatment performed by the Provider.
Provide education and counsel in oral hygiene for patients in the clinic.
Assist in implementing and monitoring the patient infection control program for the clinic, including ensuring the integrity of sterile packaging, sterilizing instruments/equipment, and cleaning autoclaves and operatories.
Performs clinical responsibilities in alignment with The Joint Commission (TJC), HRSA, and YVFWC requirements.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Once Certified: Conduct complete patient x-ray procedure including panoramic and cephalometric radiographs and intra oral photographs. Store the x-rays in the patient's electronic dental record.
