Scope of Position
The Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Institute ("The James") is the patient care component of The Ohio State University's Comprehensive Cancer Center. The Dental Assistant is a member of The James Ambulatory Care Team, with the goal of providing personalized healthcare to patients throughout outpatient clinics.
Position Summary
The Dental Assistant (DA) serves as a dental assistant and coordinator of dental assisting activities for The James. This individual will coordinate specialized maxillofacial prosthodontic services provided at The James. The DA provides chair-side dental assisting services, takes radiographs, assists with laser-based treatments, prepares trays, maintains and requests supplies, and maintains and cleans dental equipment and instruments. The DA also assists with care coordination office duties such as pre-authorization, scheduling, and communication with patients. The DA is responsible for maintaining quality outcome indicators for this clinic.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Formal training as a dental assistant is required. Radiology certification is required, with experience in cone beam imaging desired. Three years of experience as a dental assistant is desired. Continuing education in laser-based dentistry is also desired.
