Position Summary
Sign‑on bonus of $2,000 is available for the successful applicant, paid in two installments: $1,000 within 30 days of hire date and $1,000 12 months after hire date.
The Dental Assistant Supervisor will supervise, hire, plan, organize and monitor the work of other Dental Assistants in two of four graduate clinics. The role includes supporting clinical faculty in training dental, dental auxiliary, and graduate specialty students in clinical practice, providing dental assisting as needed, scheduling, monitoring or implementing clinic policies and procedures, operatory and surgical tray preparation, sterilization of instruments, maintaining asepsis, exposing and processing radiographs, seating and interacting with patients, collecting and recording patient data, taking intraoral photographs, and providing chairside assistance to graduate students and faculty. The position also supervises ordering, stocking and inventory management of clinical supplies.
Responsibilities
- Supervise, hire, plan, organize and monitor the work of other Dental Assistants in two of four graduate clinics.
- Assist clinical faculty in training dental, dental auxiliary, and graduate specialty students in clinical practice.
- Provide dental assisting as needed to support the unit.
- Schedule and monitor clinic policies and procedures, operatory and surgical tray preparation.
- Sterilize instruments and maintain asepsis.
- Expose and process radiographs, seat and interact with patients, collect and record patient data, take intraoral photographs.
- Provide chairside assistance to graduate students and faculty.
- Supervise ordering, stocking, and inventory management of clinical supplies.
Education & Experience
- High‑school diploma or equivalency and completion of an accredited dental assisting program; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a team environment with periodontal patients and/or supporting surgical procedures.
- At least one year of lead/supervisory experience.
Sign‑On Bonus Eligibility
- Must not have worked in a probationary, permanent, or time‑limited appointment in the last 12 months as an employee in North Carolina state government.
- Newly hired permanent full‑time or permanent part‑time (more than 20 hours a week) employees are eligible for the sign‑on bonus.
- Eligibility is contingent upon budget and final eligibility determination as of the effective date of hire.

Position Details
Permanent Staff (SHRA), Full‑Time, 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm, located in Chapel Hill, NC. Salary range $45,258 – $55,315.
