Sun River Health Dental Assistant Job Description

Sun River Health provides high-quality comprehensive primary, preventative, and behavioral health services to all, regardless of insurance status or ability to pay, especially serving underserved and vulnerable populations. We are a Federally Qualified, Non-Profit Health Center serving communities across Suffolk, Rockland, Orange, Dutchess, Ulster, Sullivan, Columbia, and Westchester County. We are currently seeking a Full-time Dental Assistant to join our team in Spring Valley.

Role and Responsibilities

The Dental Assistant assists Dentists and Hygienists and prepares/dismantles operatories for patient treatment, adhering to system and job-specific standards. Essential duties include:

1. Checking in patients and notifying providers of their arrival.
2. Monitoring and updating patient charts, entering visit data, and managing documentation such as radiographs, treatment plans, and consent forms.
3. Recording daily patient appointment data for statistical purposes.
4. Taking and processing radiographs as directed.
5. Assisting dental staff with patient care.
6. Following OSHA infection control standards per CDC guidelines.
7. Maintaining supplies and instruments.
8. Managing dental laboratory cases and equipment maintenance.

Qualifications

• Minimum Education: High School diploma or GED.
• Preferred Education: Vocational/Technical School/Diploma Program.
• Work Experience: At least 1 year in a related role.
• Skills & Knowledge: Bilingual in English and Spanish (both oral and written).
