Job summary

SALT Dental Partners in Virginia Beach is seeking a pediatric dental assistant to join our caring team. You will support clinicians with radiographs, impressions, and chair-side care, while ensuring a comfortable, informative patient experience.

Ideal candidates have at least 6 months of pediatric dental assisting experience, CPR/BCLS certification, and a CODA-accredited program is preferred. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential in a fast-paced, patient-centered

Qualifications

• Six months or more of pediatric dental assistant experience.

• Ability to chart, schedule, and manage patient records with software.

Responsibilities

• Greet and engage pediatric patients with warmth.
• Ensure patients and caregivers are informed about treatment.
• Take and process radiographs, impressions, intraoral photos.
• Prepare and sterilize treatment area.
• Provide chair-side assistance to providers.
• Document dental care services in patient records.
• Maintain a clean, patient-centric workspace.

Responsibilities

• Greet and engage patients with respect and a smile.
• Ensure patients are well informed and comfortable—before, during, and after their appointment—about their treatment and oral health.
• Take and process dental radiographs, impressions, and intraoral photos.
• Prepare and sterilize treatment room and equipment.
• Provide chair‑side assistance to providers during treatment procedures.
• Document dental care services by charting in patients’ records.
• Maintain a clean, sterile, and patient‑centric working environment.

Qualifications

• Six (6) or more months of practical experience as a pediatric dental assistant.
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
• Completion of a CODA‑accredited dental assisting program (Preferred).
• Quick learner with problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
• Technical and troubleshooting skills for software applications used for charting, patient records, scheduling, etc.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the desire for professional growth.
• Be organized and possess a superior knowledge of dentistry and dental terminology.
