Rutgers School of Dental Medicine ( RSDM ) is seeking a Dental Assistant (Per Diem) for Rutgers Health University Dental Associates.

The Dental Assistant performs chairside four handed dentistry and sterilization duties for Rutgers Health University Dental Associates. The position assists providers during the examination and treatment of patient and dispenses dental materials and instruments. The Dental Assistant preforms clerical, sterilizing and miscellaneous tasks for the Rutgers Faculty Practice.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Prepares room for each patient, which includes setting up instruments and supplies.
  • Greets patients and brings them to treatment room.
  • Seats patients, adjusts chairs and light, and drapes patients with protective covers.
  • Runs H20 through lines and hand pieces after every patient, as per ADA recommendations.
  • Passes instruments to doctor, using four handed dentistry according to CDA certification, during examination period and treatment of patients.
  • Charts results of doctor’s examination.
  • Prepares dental materials for the dentists use.
  • Pours models, trims and evaluates the quality of diagnostic casts.
  • Maintains patient’s records in accordance with Quality Assurance Guidelines.
