Specialty1 Partners in Petaluma, CA is seeking a dental assistant to support the Dentist by handling patient care, instrument setup, and basic chairside tasks. You will help relax patients, answer questions, and ensure comfort during visits.

The role requires at least 1 year of dental assisting experience, knowledge of instruments and sterilization, and adherence to safety standards. A dental assistant certificate and state radiology license are preferred where legally required.

Qualifications

• At least 1+ year of proven experience as dental assistant (specialty is preferred).
• Knowledge of dental instruments and sterilization methods.
• Understanding of health & safety regulations.
• Ability to perform regulated non-surgical tasks.
• Excellent communication and people skills.
• A strong attention to detail.
• Well-organized and reliable.
• A high school diploma.
• A certificate from an accredited dental assistant program (if required by law).
• An active state radiology license (if required by law).
• Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to operate standard office equipment.
• Must be able to assist patients safely in and out of chairs or treatment areas.
• Must be able to maintain clinical positioning for extended periods.
• Must be able to work around medical equipment and instruments.
• Must be able to adhere to OSHA and infection control standards.
• Must be able to perform repetitive hand and wrist movements.
• Must be able to respond quickly in emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Welcome patients to the dental office and prep for treatment.
• Prepare patients for treatment, ensuring their comfort.
• Set up instruments, equipment, and supplies.
• Sterilize instruments according to regulations.
• Assist the dentist through 4-handed dentistry.
• Provide oral hygiene and post-operative care instructions.
• Keep the dental room clean and stocked.
• Schedule appointments and post-op visits.
• Maintain accurate patient records.
• Assist with payment procedures.
• Help coordinate other office responsibilities as needed.
