Job Description

Position Summary: Assist the Doctor, set up and maintain equipment, and prepare patients for orthodontic treatments from start to finish of appointments.

Essential Functions:

• Prepare patients, sterilize or disinfect instruments, set up trays, prepare materials, and assist during orthodontic procedures.
• Record treatment information and chart in Dolphin.
• Expose and care for dental x-rays, including sensor care.
• Take and record medical and dental histories.
• Assist in managing medical or orthodontic emergencies.
• Provide postoperative instructions and properly dismiss patients.
• Instruct patients in oral hygiene and orthodontic care.
• Manage orthodontic inventory, order supplies, and track budgets if designated.
• Assist with removal of braces, bonding, and delivery of appliances.
• Take diagnosable series, panoramic, and cephalometric x-rays, and impressions.
• Fabricate temporary restorations and preliminary impressions.
• Prepare study casts, whitening trays, and retainers.
• Clean and polish appliances, apply fluoride treatments.
• Comply with all relevant policies, OSHA, and HIPAA regulations.
• Be flexible to relocate or perform administrative tasks as needed.
• Maintain reliable attendance.

Skills & Abilities:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Completion of Dental Assisting Program or at least one year of experience.
• Current Oklahoma Dental Assisting Permit; Radiation Safety Permit within 6 months; Coronal Polishing and Fluoride Permits within 6 months of eligibility.
• Proficient with Eaglesoft, Dolphin, and Microsoft Office.
• Valid driver’s license, insurance, and passing Motor Vehicle Record check if operating vehicles.
• Knowledge of HIPAA, sterilization, CDT codes, and infection control.
