Job Summary:

The Dental Assistant reports to the Dentist and will be supervised by the Dentist during fieldwork. The role involves delivering services in one of three settings:

  1. Field Health Unit
  2. Small medical/trauma hospital
  3. Large medical/trauma hospital

Assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a Dentist or physician.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize and disinfect instruments, and take dental radiographs under the Dentist's or site medical director's direction.
  • Update patients' dental records and prepare instruments and materials for treatment.
  • Make patients comfortable and assist the dentist by handing instruments, keeping the mouth dry, and using suction devices.
  • Instruct patients on postoperative and oral healthcare.
  • Prepare materials for impressions and restorations, process dental x-rays, and perform other clinical tasks as directed.
  • Order and maintain supplies and perform clerical functions related to dental activities.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years of Dental Assistant experience.
  • Certification from the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) or state license.
  • Completion of an approved Dental Assistant course or equivalent training, including office radiology training.
  • Current CPR certification and other required certifications.
  • Successful background check and drug screening.
  • Recent clinical experience in patient care, with at least 6 months in the last year.
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License and Passport (with at least 6 months validity).
  • Proficiency in English communication.
  • Favorable CNACI investigation conducted by the Department of Defense.
  • Agreement to an International Assignment Agreement (IAA).
Physical Requirements and Work Conditions:
  • Medically and dentally fit as confirmed by a medical exam.
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods.
  • Work environment primarily indoor, with travel to Kwajalein required.
