Job summary

Puyallup Smiles Dentistry and Orthodontics is seeking a dental assistant to learn and perform basic duties under the direct supervision of a licensed dentist. You will gain practical experience while supporting patient care and maintaining a positive patient experience.

No prior dental experience is required, and customer service skills are valued. The role includes infection control, radiography under safety guidelines, charting, and coordinating with the front desk for follow-up visits.

Qualifications

• No prior dental experience required.
• Customer service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Learn and perform basic dental assisting functions under the direct supervision of the licensed dentist.
• Contribute to a positive patient experience by addressing patient needs and concerns.
• Follow infection control procedures for sterilization and operatory cleaning.
• Assist with radiographs and intra-oral pictures after radiation safety requirements are met.
• Prepare for patient care procedures and provide chairside support; hand off to front desk for follow-up.
• Educate patients on postoperative and general oral health care per dentist guidance.
• Record patient charting and treatment notes in the digital chart as directed.
• Present treatment records, consents and health history to the dentist before treatment.
• Maintain compliance with state, federal, and other regulations (OSHA, HIPAA, ADA, etc.).
