Job Summary

Provide direct support to dentists, hygienists, denturists, and other provider personnel in the delivery of dental care within a Kaiser Permanente dental office.

Responsibilities

1. Perform duties permitted to a dental assistant under supervision, including applying anesthetic, removing sutures, retracting tissue, assisting with rubber dams, removing debris, inspecting oral cavity, taking impressions, polishing teeth, training patients in oral hygiene, and taking radiographs.
2. Support orthodontic procedures such as selecting bands, removing appliances, placing wires, taking measurements, and organizing patient records.
3. Assist in patient interactions, including greeting, informing, and promoting comfort, as well as recording and verifying patient information and care details.
4. Prepare and maintain a clean, organized work environment, ensure equipment functionality, and respond to emergencies.
5. Perform other duties as assigned and ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and guidelines.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year of experience as a dental assistant or graduation from an ADA-accredited program.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Relevant certifications including Dental Radiation Proficiency, Pit and Fissure Sealant, Expanded Function Dental Assistant, and BLS.

Additional Requirements

• Demonstrated competence in four-handed dentistry, proficiency with dental materials and instruments, and ability to follow instructions.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and professional skills.
• Ability to pass a clinical pre-employment skills test.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of sterilization and infection control equipment.
