Job description

Position Location

This position is located in Ahoskie, NC.

Position Purpose

The purpose of this position is to provide clinical support to the dentist, dental residents, and dental students in the School of Dental Medicine clinics and Community Service Learning Centers. The dental assistant assists with 4-handed dentistry, prepares patients, and manages patient flow.

Responsibilities
  1. Access patient information and chart as directed by dental students, residents, and faculty dentists.
  2. Monitor patients' blood pressure and sedation as required.
  3. Participate in dental exams and procedures.
  4. Follow OSHA standards for hand washing, masking, gloving, and disposal of contaminants.
  5. Monitor patients during treatment and perform dental x-rays as ordered.
  6. Transport patients as needed.
Additional Information

This is a Dental Medicine Support Position and is not subject to the State Human Resources Act.

Employment provides eligibility to participate in the UNC Optional Retirement Program (ORP) with employer matching contributions and investment options. It also offers eligibility for various voluntary supplemental retirement plans (401k, 403b, 457).
