Job summary

Rolling Hills Clinic is seeking a Dental Assistant in Training to function as a circulating assistant during chairside dental procedures. On-the-job training will be provided by current RDAs/RDAEFIIs and precepted by the Dental Director/Dentists.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Eight (8) hours infection control course certificate approved by the Dental Board of California.
• Completion of an approved radiation safety course within one (1) year of starting the training program.

Responsibilities

• Perform four-handed dental assisting duties for various procedures, including endodontics, oral surgery, pedodontics, prosthodontics, and restorative care.
• Assist with radiographic operations: expose, process, and upload diagnostic radiographs.
• Demonstrate familiarity with dental terminology, materials, medications, and operative instruments.
• Support patient flow by cleaning and sterilizing instruments, setting up trays, restocking supplies, performing equipment maintenance and testing, pouring models, and handling other lab procedures.
• Instruct patients in oral hygiene and preventive dental education under dentist supervision.
• Maintain inventory of supplies; reorder as needed to sustain par levels.
• Document exam findings in patient records.
• Ensure operatories and laboratories are clean, orderly, and well stocked.
• Plan work effectively to promote dental clinic efficiency.
• Understand patient scheduling procedures.
• Collaborate with dental staff to develop and implement community preventive dental activities.
• Adhere to all safety protocols, including ergonomic standards and corrective action for health and safety issues.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience

• Valid CPR Certification
• Valid California Driver's License

Working Environment & Physical Demands

Work is performed in a health clinic setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. Will work with blood-borne pathogens and will require OSHA training. This job routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, photocopiers, and fax machines. Pre-employment Drug Testing and a Department of Justice Fingerprinting clearance through Federal, State and Child Abuse Index is a contingency for an offer of employment. Criminal clearances are obtained to protect the welfare and safety of clients receiving services at Rolling Hills Clinic.

Vaccination Requirements

Provide vaccination records to show proof of immunity for TB, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, TDAP & Hep B. If the records are more than 10 years old, titers are required to confirm immunity.
