At Covenant Community Care, we are a faith based non-profit, Federally Qualified Health Center serving the communities of Detroit in our clinics that offer integrated medical, dental, and counseling healthcare needs. We are seeking new team members to join our dental clinics.

Job Description

The Dental Assistant II (DA2)- in our clinics will be responsible for providing ongoing support to the dentist/hygienist in providing quality dental care to patients. The ideal candidate will be flexible, reliable, and have excellent customer service skills. They must be organized and able to work well in a team environment. Professionalism is a must, as they will be interacting with patients on a daily basis. This mid-level dental assistant position has the foundational skills to complete dental assistant work including learning four-handed dentistry in all dental specialties.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting the dentist and hygienist during procedures.
  • Assist in the general workflow of the clinic.
  • Maintain all lab cases and appoint patients in a timely manner. Inform provider of any communication from lab regarding case matters of significance.
  • Assist dentist in management of dental and medical emergencies.
  • Clear away and clean equipment between scheduled patient care.
  • Taking and developing x-rays
  • Take and record medical and dental records
  • Record patient vital signs
  • Preparing and sterilizing instruments and equipment.
  • Make preliminary impressions for study casts and occlusal registrations for mounting study casts.
  • Weekly maintenance of dental equipment
  • Maintaining patient records
  • Performing other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid State of Michigan Driver's License and reliable transportation

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years in a dental office/environment.
  • Certification in dental assisting preferred.
  • Spanish/English bilingual is a plus, but not required.
  • Knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, and other public healthcare plans is a plus.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and float between sites when needed
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and procedures

All candidates must successfully complete a criminal background check, TB test, and education credentialing as part of the hiring process. Candidates that float to the Mobile Dental team also require background check for Detroit Public Schools Community District (DPSCD)
