Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Dental Assistant II within the Clinical Affairs Department of the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine ( RSDM ).

The Dental Assistant II provides support to students and faculty in the RSDM patient care clinics. The Dental Assistant II also performs work related to the care, sterilization, packing and disbursement of equipment and supplies. In addition, the Dental Assistant II maintains all aspects of sterilization procedures related to dental instruments and supplies associated with patient care within the various clinical operations.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Issue equipment, instruments and supplies to students and faculty. Performs duties relating to dispensary as assigned.
  • Assists dental students chairside in the delivery of quality oral health care.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies, loaned instruments and equipment according to department policy. Restocks equipment and supplies in the dispensary and clinic, reporting depleted items following the established procedure.
  • Checks returned instruments and prepares them for sterilization. Delivers to and retrieves instruments from Central Sterilization according to department schedule.
  • Exposes and scans digital radiographs using digital sensor or phosphor plate.
