The Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe's Jamestown Family Dental Clinic in Sequim, WA is hiring a part-time Dental Assistant I to join a friendly, professional team. You will support dental providers, prepare patients and instruments, and help maintain sterile, organized operatories.

This role requires a high school diploma and willingness to pursue continuing education. Schedule is Mon–Wed, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, three days per week; familiarity with Eaglesoft is a plus, and the clinic emphasizes

Responsibilities

  • Assist dental providers by setting up instruments, greeting and seating patients, and preparing patients’ information.
  • Provide chairside assistance during examinations and procedures, including passing instruments and materials.
  • Maintain operatories and sterilization areas following infection control guidelines; care for inventory and supplies.
  • Triage emergency patients and provide oral hygiene instructions as assigned by dentist.

Job Details: Job Location: Jamestown Family Dental Clinic - Sequim, WA, Position Type: Part Time, Salary Range: $20.91 - $27.18Hourly, The Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe is seeking a Dental Assistant I to join the team at the Jamestown Family Dental Clinic (JFDC). The mission of the Dental Assistant I is to enhance the oral health status of JFDC patients by providing skilled dental assisting services in a professional, supportive, and team-oriented environment.

Under the direction of the Clinic Operations Manager/Dental Assistant Supervisor, the Dental Assistant I will support dental providers and patients throughout the delivery of quality dental care while maintaining the health and safety standards of the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe.

Schedule

Schedule: Monday–Wednesday | 8:00 AM–5:00 PM 3 days per week

Essential Functions
  • Assist dental providers by setting up proper instruments prior to seating patients, greeting and seating patients, and preparing patients for interaction with dental provider including assuring patient pertinent demographic information and medical history is accurate and up to date
  • Provide chairside assistance during examinations and other procedures including passing of instruments and materials, operating suction/retraction equipment in patients’ mouths.
  • Apply coronal polish; take study model impressions; fabricate and cement temporary crowns, place and remove rubber dams, as needed
  • Maintain dental operatories including lab and sterilization areas in a clean, orderly and sterile condition, doing deep cleaning once weekly and observing infection control practices at all times
  • Maintain, clean, package, sterilize and store all dental equipment and instruments according to current infection control guidelines
  • Triage emergency patients: report findings to the dentist and schedule as necessary
  • Provide oral hygiene instructions; routine prophylaxis and topical fluoride treatments on adults and children as assigned by dentist
  • Assist with tracking inventory, purchase of supplies and equipment
  • Assist reception staff to greet and take care of patient needs as needed
  • Participate in dental staff meetings
  • Adhere to all JST and JFDC policies and procedures, including but not limited to standards for safety, PPE and work practices as described in the JFHC Occupational Exposure Control Plan and HIPAA
  • Maintain and ensure patient confidentiality
  • Perform additional duties when and as assigned
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Willingness to receive ongoing continuing education required
  • BLS Certification
  • Basic personal computer skills required as well as the ability to learn dental office scheduling, electronic tooth and periodontal charting software (Eaglesoft), word processing and other software programs
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills including effective verbal and written communication
  • Ability to travel locally and regionally as assigned
  • Must be able to successfully pass criminal background investigation
Preferred Qualifications
  • Dental assistant accreditation
  • Previous dental experience with thorough understanding of the operations of a professional dental clinic
  • American Indian/Alaska Native preferences apply
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
  • Must be available to work any shift (to include all hours, weekends, and/or holidays as job duties require)
  • Must be able to lift, push and carry up to 25 lbs. unassisted
  • Physical ability to access all areas of the property applicable to your position
  • Must be able to withstand prolonged standing, sitting, walking, bending, climbing, squatting and twisting without restriction
  • Requires eye/hand coordination and manual dexterity; ability to distinguish letters, numbers and symbols
  • Must have the ability to reach at or below/above shoulder level on a continuous basis
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, busy, and somewhat stressful environment and maintain physical stamina, proper mental attitude while dealing effectively with customers, management, team members, and outside contacts while working under pressure and meeting deadlines
