Job description

The Dental Assistant assists the dentist with examinations, treatments, and procedures to maintain patient comfort and safety and to facilitate patient care.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  1. Operates dental radiographic equipment for oral radiography, which requires proper patient positioning and application of radiation protection devices.
  2. Packages and sterilizes instruments according to policy and procedure and prepares instruments to be sent to SPD for sterilization.
  3. Makes referral and/or consult appointments and schedules patients for outpatient procedures, obtaining pre-authorizations and/or pre-certifications for insurance purposes as appropriate.
  4. Uses Dental Software to maintain patient records, schedule appointments, post charges, and collect fees.

Education:

High school graduate or equivalent required.

Experience:

One year dental assisting experience preferred.

Licensure/Certification:

Certification as a dental assistant or equivalent job experience preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) and dental x-rays required within 90 days of hire.
