REPORTS TO: Practice Manager / Dental Director

RATE OF PAY: $18.82/hour - $20.31/hour; biweekly pay structure

WORK SCHEDULE: We are hiring for two positions: a full-time role, Monday - Friday, and a per diem role with a minimum of 22.5 scheduled hours per week. Workdays are weekdays only; no nights, weekends, or major holidays.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Dental Assistant will perform duties assigned by the Clinic Dentist, in accordance with training and within legal limitations as recognized by the American Dental Association and New York State Education Department. Responsibilities include assisting with patient care, recordkeeping, and preparing/cleaning dental tools.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Assist the dentist during clinical procedures by passing instruments, retracting tissues, suctioning, and mixing/formulating dental materials.
  • Perform dental services within training scope, including sterilization, equipment maintenance, and infection control.
  • Operate dental equipment such as evacuators, autoclaves, triturators, and oxygen supplies.
  • Assist in patient management and wheelchair transfers.
  • Schedule appointments and manage patient records, including tracking consent forms and dental lab cases.
  • Monitor patients who received oral sedation and communicate findings to the dentist.
  • Coordinate with dental repair technicians and assist in educational programs.
  • Maintain records of radiation exposure, autoclave testing, and supply orders.
  • Follow all infection control policies and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • One year of approved chair-side experience preferred.
  • CPR certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
  • Professionalism, confidentiality, and the ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination; ability to sit/stand for long periods.
  • Exposure to infectious materials and ability to tolerate hospital odors.
  • Ability to read digital readouts, recognize colors, and operate dental equipment.
  • Willingness to wear necessary protective gear.
