GENERAL SUMMARY:

Dental Assistant Position @Henry Ford Health

Working as a dental assistant (DA) in the departments of oral & maxillofacial surgery (OMFS) and hospital dentistry (HD) at Henry Ford Health (HFH) involves delivering dental and oral surgery care to medically complex, hospital-based patients. Care is provided in hospital settings, operating rooms, and outpatient clinics, often dealing with sicker and more complex patients than typical community clinics. As a DA, you will assist beyond chairside support, helping in patient care before, during, and after visits, with details provided during the interview. You will collaborate with multiple departments and work within a comprehensive electronic medical record system, with extensive training provided. You will also work closely with nursing leadership to maintain a safe, efficient environment, all aimed at providing high-quality care and excellent patient experiences.

  • Under supervision of the provider and nursing leadership, performs administrative and clinical tasks to support quality, compassionate patient care.
  • Tasks include greeting and escorting patients, taking medical histories, recording vital signs, preparing patients for procedures, and assisting physicians during examinations and procedures.
  • Demonstrates clinical competence as a Dental Assistant.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • At least one (1) year of dental experience, with priority given to those with surgical dental assisting experience.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:
  • Certificate of completion from an accredited dental assisting program.
  • Radiology Certification.
  • Within three (3) years of hire, must pass the DAANCE (Dental Anesthesia Assistant National Certification Exam).
  • BLS certification.
