Job summary

Dental Center of Atherton in Menlo Park is seeking a skilled Dental Assistant to support our dentists across a range of procedures. You will help prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, take patient vitals, and ensure comfort and safety for every visit.

The ideal candidate has at least two years of experience, proficiency with dental x-rays, excellent communication, and a passion for team-based care in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of prior Dental Assistant experience.
• Proficiency in taking dental x-rays.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced dental office.
• Thorough understanding of HIPAA and patient confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Assist the dentist during a variety of procedures.
• Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize instruments.
• Take and record patient vital signs and medical history.
• Perform dental x-rays and process them for diagnosis.
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and post-operative care instructions.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic patient records using dental software.
• Ensure patient privacy and confidentiality by strictly adhering to HIPAA guidelines.
• Prepare temporary crowns and other lab work as needed.
• Provide exceptional chairside assistance, anticipating the dentist's needs.
• Administer local anesthetic under direct supervision, as allowed by state regulations.

Pay

• $35 - $40 per hour

Shift & Schedule

• Monday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Tuesday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Wednesday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Thursday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Occasional Saturdays, 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM (by appointment only, typically 1-2 Saturdays per month).

Requirements

• Minimum of two (2) years of prior experience as a Dental Assistant.
• Proficiency in taking dental x-rays.
• Exceptional communication and customer service skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.
• Ability to multitask and excel in a fast-paced environment.
• Thorough understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a cohesive team, consistently going above and beyond to support colleagues and patients.
• Comfortable and proficient in all aspects of general dentistry, including assisting with restorative, endodontic, and prosthetic procedures.

Preferences

• Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) certification.
• Proficiency in using dental practice management software (e.g., Curve).
• Knowledge of dental anatomy and terminology.
• Familiarity with medical coding for dental procedures (CDT codes).
• Experience making temporary crowns.
