Description

Summary:
Performs a variety of technical functions. Assists the dentist with all procedures and meets the dental needs of patients. Actively participates in department performance improvements.

Responsibilities
  • Assists the dentist with instrument passing. Prepares restorative material impressions for dentures. Prepares models to ensure effective high-quality treatment.
  • Takes and develops x-rays. Accurately mounts & labels radiographs with patient's name & date after development.
  • Charts dentist's instructions at chair-side to assist with developing treatment plans. Explains treatment plan, oral hygienic, and post-operative instructions to patients to ensure understanding.
  • Greets and seats patients. Verifies that all patient information is correct and up to date.
  • Checks all sterilizers for proper operation.
  • Adheres to universal precaution policies. Wears protective gear and washes hands regularly. Follows radiation, health, and safety protocols.
  • Familiar with operation of all department equipment. Notifies lead assistant of malfunctions.
  • Notifies lead assistant of low product levels and outages.
  • Uses reference resources to answer questions or resolve patient complaints. Documents complaints and offers solutions.
  • Participates in department performance improvements.
  • Fulfills compliance responsibilities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education: HS diploma or equivalent.

Required: Minimum one year of experience, Radiation Health and Safety Certificate.

Desired: Certified Dental Assistant, 3-5 years of experience.
