HOURS & SHIFT REQUIREMENTS: Regular full time, 40 hours weekly, M-F 8-4:30GENERAL SUMMARYProvide quality care and services to patients by assisting the dentist and other staff in a variety of patient care, office and laboratory duties.GIBSON AREA HOSPITAL& HEALTH SERVICES MISSION STATEMENTTo provide personalized, professional healthcare services to the residents of the Communities we serve.PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESEnsure all patient records and related documents are managed and maintained timely, accurately, and consistent with all HIPAA and related regulations and requirements.Demonstrate knowledge of dentistry procedures, clinic infection control procedures.Cleaning and sterilization of instruments, tray and materials setup and taking of x-rays.Experience with the use of dental care devices and equipment.Assist in scheduling follow-up appointments as patient checks-out.Advise patients in oral hygiene and dental care, and follow through with post-visit duties.Keep abreast of OSHA and follow guidelines.Be aware of Provider/Scheduling synergy, understanding doctor’s treatment planning philosophy to better educate and create sense of urgency for the patients.Disinfect treatment rooms and equipment after each patient, document each autoclave cycle on tracking sheet.Confirm treatment rooms are stocked, ready, and clean at the beginning of each appointment.Maintain inventory and inform appropriate employee of any supply needs, and turn pumps on and off daily.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSRequires sitting for long periods of time; also stooping, bending and stretching for files and supplies. Occasionally lifts files or paper.Complete tasks with arm in extended position for an extended period of time.Physical strength to perform the following lifting tasks:Floor to waist – 30 pounds14” to waist – 40 poundsWaist to shoulder – 20 poundsShoulder to overhead – 10 poundsCarry 30 pounds for 30 feetPush 40 pounds/force for 15 feetPull 40 pounds/force for 15 feetRequires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, telephone, copier, dictation recorder, and such other office equipment as necessary.Vision must be correctable to 20/20 and hearing must be in the normal range for telephone contacts.It is necessary to view and type on computer screens for long periods and to work in an environment which can be very stressful.REPORTING RELATIONSHIPReports to the Office ManagerEDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED1.
