Job summary

Qualifications include a one‑year certified dental assistant program, X‑ray certification, possibly Nitrous Oxide certification, and OSHA/HIPAA/CPR training. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Qualifications

• Completion of a one-year certified dental assistant program.
• Six months on-the-job experience is acceptable with documentation.
• X-Ray certification is required.
• Nitrous Oxide certification is highly recommended.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Maintain OSHA, HIPAA, CPR and infection control training as required by law.

Responsibilities

• Clinical Support: Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and assist dentists during procedures.
• Patient Care: Welcome, comfort, and educate patients on oral hygiene and post-treatment care.
• Radiography & Diagnostics: Take and develop X-rays, assist with impressions, and maintain study models.
• Compliance & Safety: Ensure infection control protocols, maintain patient confidentiality, and follow workplace regulations.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation, including scheduling and patient intake (if needed).
• Helps dentist manage dental and medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification, emergency drug and oxygen supply, and emergency telephone directory.
