Overview
Hero Practice Services is seeking a Dental Assistant Extern to experience various facets of dental procedures in a pediatric office. Upon successful completion of externship hours, externs may be hired as full-time dental assistants.

The Opportunity

This role supports the Heroes actively serving children and young people in our communities by improving their health and well-being. This position is open to students enrolled in a dental assisting program seeking mentorship from experienced clinical leaders.

Responsibilities include:

• Tracking and submitting externship hours via timesheets
• Recording patient charting and dentist notes in digital charts as directed
• Preparing and cleaning treatment rooms and instruments, monitoring schedule efficiency, and educating patients on procedures
• Maintaining a clean, sterile, and patient-centric environment
• Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations (e.g., OSHA, HIPAA, ADA)
• Keeping the practice clean and presentable, including cleaning restrooms, lobby, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting
• Performing additional duties supporting the business and our mission

Requirements include:

• Enrollment in a dental assistant program
• Experience or willingness to learn customer/patient service
• Strong interpersonal skills and a desire for professional growth
• Organization skills and knowledge of dentistry
