Job Opportunity: Expanded Functions Dental Assistant at Aspen Dental

Salary: $22 - $26 per hour

How You’ll Make a Difference

As an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant, you will perform essential duties to create positive patient experiences and foster trust and loyalty.

  • Assist with directing the dental office team to maintain efficient patient flow
  • Support dentists during various treatment procedures
  • Prepare and clean operatory rooms for procedures
  • Ensure sterilization and proper maintenance of equipment and operatory areas
  • Follow schedules for waterline flushing, testing, autoclaving, and equipment maintenance
  • Set up trays and operatory areas for procedures
  • Support accurate patient charting and documentation
  • Train team members on patient handoffs and patient flow management
  • Adhere to OSHA, HIPAA, and Aspen safety standards
  • Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays)
  • Provide oral care instructions and educate patients on oral hygiene
  • Perform denture relines, temporary crowns, and support laboratory cases
  • Perform intraoral health scans efficiently
  • Understand and teach the clear aligner process
  • Take quality impressions and bite registrations
  • Perform additional functions such as coronal polishing or restorative procedures, as certified
  • Maintain emergency kits and oxygen supplies
  • Order and manage supplies within budget
  • Perform miscellaneous office tasks as needed
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Current Dental Assistant license, registration, or certification as per state requirements
  • Radiology (X-ray) certification as required by state
  • Current CPR or BLS certification
  • At least 2 years of dental assisting experience
  • Proficiency in chairside assisting and four-handed dentistry
  • Knowledge of sterilization and infection control procedures
  • Maintain annual continuing education requirements
  • State certification in expanded functions, if required
