Job Description: Expanded Functions Dental Assistant at Aspen Dental

Salary: $17 - $21 per hour

How You’ll Make a Difference

As an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant, your role involves performing various duties to create positive patient experiences and foster trust and loyalty.

  • Assist with patient flow and coordinate with the dental team throughout the day
  • Support doctors during treatment procedures
  • Prepare and breakdown operatory rooms
  • Ensure sterilization and proper equipment maintenance
  • Support patient charting and record-keeping
  • Train others in patient handoffs and monitor patient flow
  • Follow OSHA, HIPAA, and Aspen safety standards
  • Take dental radiographs (X-rays)
  • Provide oral care instructions and educate patients on oral health
  • Perform denture relines and temporary crown fabrication
  • Manage laboratory cases and perform intraoral health scans efficiently
  • Understand and teach clear aligner processes
  • Take impressions and bite registrations
  • Perform additional functions based on certifications (e.g., polishing, restorative work)
  • Maintain emergency kits and supplies in accordance with practice budgets
  • Perform various administrative tasks as needed
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Current Dental Assistant license, registration, or certification as required by your state
  • Radiology (X-ray) certification as mandated by state law
  • Current CPR or BLS certification
  • At least 2 years of experience as a Dental Assistant
  • Proficiency in chairside assisting and four-handed dentistry
  • Knowledge of sterilization and infection control protocols
  • Compliance with annual continuing education requirements
  • State certification for expanded functions, if applicable
