Job description

El Centro Family Health is seeking a full-time Dental Assistant dedicated to serving the needs of our community.

Ideal candidate should possess the following qualities:

  • Willing to travel to outlying clinics as needed.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Operational requirements:

  • Prepares, sterilizes, organizes, and sets up dental equipment ensuring that all dental instruments are cleaned, dated, and processed according to established clinic guidelines, standards, and disposes of needles, blades, and biohazard waste properly.
  • Develop and process dental radiographs in accordance with provider orders; assists in the monitoring and maintenance radiation safety procedures and protocols.
  • Follows and maintains all relevant Federal, State, and institutional regulations, guidelines, policies, and standards for the provision of dental clinical services.
  • Performs laboratory procedures to include taking impressions and pouring models.
  • Maintains dental laboratory cases, creates, and maintains dental records in accordance with established protocol and procedures.
  • Prepares patients for treatment and examination. Answer routine questions related in impending procedures or preventive dentistry techniques.
  • Assist the Dentist and Dental Hygienist, with patient and clinic related duties.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

Under general supervision, provides a range of clinical, administrative, and staff support to full-range dental services operations. Assists in the performance of dental procedures, policies and standards, and assists in the coordination of day-to-day patient administration, records management, and office support activities.

Provides chair side assistance to the Dentist and/or Dental Hygienist in the performance of dental procedures, to include operative, preventive, periodontal, endodontic, prosthetic, and/or oral surgical procedures.

Minimum requirements

Education: High school or equivalent.

Experience: No experience necessary; this is an entry-level position.

Certification: Must apply and complete radiology requirements within six months from date of hire and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/ Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire.
