Dental Assistant - Dental Medicine AGH - Pittsburgh - Full Time

We are looking for a preferred professional with:
- Excellent Customer service and Communication Skills
- Very Organized and detail oriented
- Knowledge of dental procedures and instrument sterilization
Schedule: Monday - Friday - No Weekends, Evenings or Holidays

Some Responsibilities include:

- Assist the dentist chairside during procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety
- Assist dental faculty with patients treated in the OR
- Assist and support our General Dental Practice residents
- Handle Digital equipment and assist with general dentistry procedures.
- Maintain aseptic technique and adhere to HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality
- Communicate effectively with patients, providing exceptional customer service.
- Support the dental team with administrative tasks such as scheduling and record-keeping, as needed

GENERAL OVERVIEW

Assists the dentist with procedures and prepares the patient and operatory for dental treatment.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Organizes the operatory, including preparing trays and instruments for dental procedures. (25%)
  • Prepares and explains the dental procedure to the patient. (10%)
  • Assists the dentist chairside with all dental procedures. (50%)
  • Takes and develops intraoral/panorex/cephlometric x-rays, impressions and fabricates custom fluoride/bleaching trays. (15%)
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum

  • Must pass national DANB Radiation Health and Safety (RHS) Exam within 30 days of hire. Incumbents hired prior to 12/12/2009 must have record with employer of passing the former Pennsylvania radiography exam.
  • CPR – American Heart Association
  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate

Preferred

  • Graduate of a certified dental assistant program preferred.
  • 1 year experience in a dental practice/hospital setting preferred.
