Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Dental Assistant to support the dentist, prepare the operatory, and assist chairside with procedures in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Responsibilities include organizing trays, preparing patients, taking and developing dental X-rays and impressions, and contributing to patient education. CPR and background clearances are required for employment.

GENERAL OVERVIEW

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Organizes the operatory, including preparing trays and instruments for dental procedures. (25%)
• Prepares and explains the dental procedure to the patient. (10%)
• Assists the dentist chairside with all dental procedures. (50%)
• Takes and develops intraoral/panorex/cephlometric x-rays, impressions and fabricates custom fluoride/bleaching trays. (15%)
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred

• Graduate of a certified dental assistant program preferred.
• 1 year experience in a dental practice/hospital setting preferred.

Additional Employment Requirements:

• CPR - American Heart Association
• Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
• Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
• Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
• Must pass national DANB Radiation Health and Safety (RHS) Exam within 30 days of hire or possess a record of passing the former Pennsylvania-specific radiology exam if qualified prior to 12/12/2009.
