Job summary

UT Health San Antonio is seeking a Dental Assistant to support dental care delivery by preparing treatment rooms, treating patients, and assisting faculty, residents, and students. The role emphasizes maintaining a clean work environment and ensuring readiness for upcoming procedures.

Responsibilities include room setup, x-ray development, patient prep, instrument handling, appointment scheduling, and inventory management.

Qualifications

• One (1) year of dental assisting experience or completion of an approved dental assistant course is required.
• Must have good hand skills to work in tight quarters on small parts of the body, using precise tools and instruments.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, faculty and students.

Responsibilities

• Set up treatment rooms for procedures and prepare trays, instruments, materials and supplies.
• Take and develop digital x-rays and assist with patient examinations and charting.
• Prepare patients for treatment, including taking vitals.
• Pass instruments and materials and perform routine procedures.
• Manage and schedule patient appointments; maintain inventory of equipment and supplies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
