Job Summary

Provide direct support to dentists, hygienists, denturists, and other provider personnel in the delivery of dental care within a Kaiser Permanente dental office.

Responsibilities
  1. Perform duties permitted a dental assistant under supervision, including applying anesthetics, sutures removal, tissue retraction, assisting with rubber dams, debris removal, oral cavity inspection, taking impressions, polishing teeth, training patients, radiograph procedures, and support tasks.
  2. Support orthodontic procedures such as band sizing, appliance removal, arch wire placement, intra-oral measurements, bonding material removal, and radiographs. Manage patient records and communication, and promote patient comfort and understanding.
  3. Assist in patient care by preparing instruments, maintaining a clean environment, recording data accurately, responding to emergencies, and ensuring equipment functionality.
  4. Perform additional duties as assigned, adhering to legal and organizational standards, including placement of restorations, impressions, and monitoring nitrous oxide administration as authorized.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a dental assistant or graduation from an ADA-accredited program.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Oregon Dental Radiation Proficiency Certificate, Pit and Fissure Sealant Certificate (within 6 months), Expanded Function Dental Assistant Certificate (within 3 months), and BLS (within 3 months).
Additional Requirements
  • Competence in four-handed dentistry, proficiency with dental materials and equipment, ability to follow instructions, organization, professionalism, and excellent attendance.
  • Final candidate must pass a clinical skills test.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of sterilization and infection control equipment.
Notes
