Job summary

The UCLA School of Dentistry seeks a Dental Assistant for its 27-chair community clinic, the Wilson-Jennings-Bloomfield UCLA Venice Dental Center. The DA will perform chairside duties, assist with x-ray, sterilization, and inventory while supporting administrative tasks.

Candidates should have California certification, CPR, and a current radiology license, with strong attention to infection control and patient relations in a fast-paced clinic.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of dental terminology, materials, equipment, and four-handed dentistry.
• Aseptic technique, infection control, sterilization procedures, and OR sanitation.
• Follow sterilization and infection control protocols including infectious patients.
• Knowledge of University patient care policies and procedures.
• Recognize dental and medical emergencies and respond appropriately.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a high-pressure environment.
• Organize and manage inventory of dental instruments and supplies.
• Demonstrated patient relations and ability to handle difficult patients.
• Verbal and telephone skills to schedule patients and communicate with staff.
• Ability to work with faculty, coworkers, students, patients and staff.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish for patient communication.
• Computer skills to learn scheduling and patient records systems.

Responsibilities

• General chairside dental assisting, x-ray duties, sterilization, and infection control.
• Stocking and ordering duties for dental materials and supplies.
• Monitor charge documentation and verify procedures match charges; maintain logs.
• Assist with inventory and procurement of dental tools and equipment.
